There are two categories of advances to consider in the choice of a PVC ball valve. The first is the practical nature of a ball valve, and the second is the durability of the choice of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) as a material for the valve.
The Ball Valve Benefits
A ball valve is a simple valve that is used to control the flow of a liquid or a gas through a system. These valves are externally controlled either manually or through automated systems that open or close the valve based on the desired flow change through the line.
The basic operation of a ball valve is a quarter turn to open or to close. This quarter turn rotates a hollow ball with a hole cut through the middle either into the line of the inlet and outlet port or out of line with the inlet and outlet ports. This allows the flow of the media through the valve or stops it completely.
The ball valve can also be used for very rough flow control, but this is not the primary use. Ball valves can be used in high or low-pressure applications, and they are extremely reliable and easy to use.
The PVC Benefits
Choosing a PVC ball valve means that the valve itself is very lightweight but also incredibly strong. When manufactured as a single piece body these valves are incredibly durable and stand up well to most common types of applications, including high-pressure applications.
PVC itself is resistant to corrosion, and it is also a very good option in most temperatures. The exception to this is if the PVC ball valve is exposed to extremely high temperatures or temperatures well below freezing when the media may freeze and cause the valve and the surrounding pipe or tubing to split.
