Diagnosing and repairing a printed circuit board can be quite tedious and time consuming. If you are a novice at repairing computers this might scare you. Instead of paying outrageous prices to send your computer to the repair specialist, you might want to take the time to study the proper materials and watch plenty of how-to videos to beef up your computer knowledge. Anything can be learned and applied with patience and the appropriate tools. If you feel you are up to the task of repairing your damaged circuit board then make sure you have all the proper elements to do so in order to succeed.

Diagnosing your Circuit Board

You need to begin with testing your circuit board. To do this you will need a Circuit track kit. Begin by examining your board for any build up of dirt, dust or grime. A build-up will cause your board to malfunction because electricity is being blocked. While you are checking for build-up also check the bottom and side of your board for any cracks or broken pieces. If you come across these then you will need to break out your soldering iron from your circuit track kit.

Repairs

If there is a blockage in your circuit board then you will need to carefully remove the blockage. This process needs to be done as gently as possible to avoid any further damage to your circuit board. The way to remove dust from your circuit board is with a can of compressed air. This way you are not touching or pressing on any of the pieces attached to the board. Another old trick is to use a tooth brush. Make sure that the bristles are extra soft and you do not press hard on the board. There are pieces that stick up high and can be very flimsy and you do not want to have to repair extra parts on your board. If you find you need to repair cracks on the base of your circuit board then you will need to use your soldering tool in order to repair them. When soldering your circuit board make sure to not exceed 25 watts. Doing so will damage your board. Lightly touch the tip of your soldering pencil to the iron on the board and quickly remove. Do not disturb the board until it has dried. Do this for any cracks that need repairing.

You are now a semi-semi pro at diagnosing and repairing the easy fixes on your circuit board. You will now have more confidence to tackle the hard things and who knows your friends and family may even be asking you to help them soon too!
