Fun Facts About ATV Accessories

Many people who have never ridden an ATV quickly fall in love with them the moment they get to ride one. While they may not be everybody’s cup of tea, ATVs retain a significant amount of popularity around the country. Here are some fun facts to read regarding both ATVs and ATV Accessories.

  • ATVs are not new vehicles by any stretch of the imagination. They started to show up in the marketplace in the early 60s.
  • The first ones relied on a set of six wheels instead of the more common four wheels so prevalent today. The very first four-wheeler was finally introduced in 1983 by Suzuki.
  • ATVs were not required to have brake lights when first manufactures nor during their first few decades of existence. Brake lights did not become mandatory until 1998.

  • Many people realized during the 90s how great it was to have an ATV on the farm. In heavily wooded areas or rural areas of the country, they make getting around very easy. ATVs manufactured with a four-wheel drive system are quite common for people to own.
  • One of the most popular ATV Accessories these days happens to be GPS. This makes them safe to drive in the great outdoors in unfamiliar territory because the chances of getting lost are greatly reduced.

  • There is an actual law on the books in Minnesota stating it is illegal to drive an ATV in a lake while wearing a snorkel. This means someone, at some point in time, thought this was a good idea and attempted to try it, at least once.
  • On ATVs, the ignition killswitch is on the left-hand side of the vehicle. On snowmobiles, the ignition killswitch is located on the right-hand side of the vehicle. Nobody has a good explanation as to why this is; it has just always been this way.
