The car wash business is competitive. Owners and operators are finding that the key to attracting new customers is providing new offerings and improving efficiency. Customers are responding positively to such things as wheel scrubs, tire shine, and foam waxes.
Adding exciting new offerings requires upgraded wash tunnel capabilities. Modern, state-of-the-art car wash controllers take over all the tasks, traditional as well as new functions available in the most dynamic businesses. Controlling the equipment is only one duty. Today, controllers also ensure overall efficiency, provide notifications, and provide behind-the-scenes monitoring of the tunnel and equipment in the bay.
Sophisticated Car Wash Controllers Have Arrived
Car wash controllers no longer sit idly by until management has to change something. Modern controllers monitor the entire operation and report specific information about the tunnel status at the same time they control tunnel activity.
About 15 or 20 years ago a car wash was considered to be at the sharp end of available technology is it used a 16-function controller; this is no longer the case. Controllers with as many as 128 functions are currently available. This capacity upgrade has become necessary due to an ever-increasing addition of services offered.
Every car wash needs a controller. The type of controller and the number of functions depends very much on the type of car wash. Full-service operations employ people to perform additional services; as a result, less control equipment is needed. Many tunnels are long, the goal of the car wash is to produce a clean car repeatedly, and to do it at high-speed. In these situations, the controller will have considerably more functions. The controller ensures the right amount of foam is applied at the right time, that the car is completely rinsed and dried to a spot-free finish, time after time.
